INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Central Region rankings announced Wednesday have Central Oklahoma fifth heading into the final weekend of play before selection Sunday.
UCO (36-14) is off this weekend after exiting the MIAA Baseball Championship in the first round. The league champion of this weekend's finals will earn the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Great American Conference and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference are also crowing their postseason tournament championship this weekend.
The NCAA will announce Sunday night the eight-team field including those three champions and five at-large bids. The Central Regional will be played at two sub-regionals May 17-19, with the top two seeds hosting four-team double-elimination tournaments.
The two sub-regional winners will play a best-of-three Super Regional May 24-25 for the right to go to Cary, North Carolina and the Division II Baseball Championship.
Central Oklahoma made three straight regionals in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and is looking to get back to the NCAAs for the first time since then this year.
