Dahsauni Lyday Finishes Top 20 At National Championships

UCO Senior Thrower Wraps Up Historic Career Saturday

EMPORIA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma senior thrower Dahsauni Lyday wrapped up her illustrious career Saturday with an 18th-place finish in the shot put at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.

Lyday threw 14.15 meters Saturday to finish 18th of 23 throwers selected to compete for a national championship. Her 14.78-meter throw earlier this season is a UCO record and the throw that qualified her for nationals this week.

Lyday threw 14.15m on her first throw of the meet Saturday morning. But she fouled on the next two throws and her day was done.

The senior from Wagoner, Oklahoma, who competed in her first career Outdoor meet at Emporia in 2021, broke the UCO record in the shot put in 2023, then broke her own record twice this season. In her career (2021-24), Lyday has the top six shot put throws in school history.
