WINGATE, N.C. – Valek Cisneros was named Second Team All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association, it was announced Thursday.

The University of Central Oklahoma senior right-handed pitcher put together a dominating season on the mound while helping the Bronchos reach the NCAA Tournament. He was awarded Thursday for his efforts and is now the 22nd player in school history to earn the title, All-American.

"We're proud of Val and all the work he put in to help us, he deserves this honor, we're really happy for him," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "He's a great guy to have on your team not just for his ability, but what he brings to the team every day. He's a great teammate. I'm glad he's being recognized for all his hard work."

Cisneros becomes the 22nd All-American in UCO baseball history. He's the seventh pitcher to earn the title. Including Cisneros' selection this year, he is the third straight All-American at UCO that served in the role of closer.
