Dahsauni Lyday Selected For Outdoor National Championships

UCO Senior Thrower Will Compete In Shot Put May 25

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma senior thrower Dahsauni Lyday was selected for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, it was announced Tuesday.

The senior from Wagoner, Oklahoma, with multiple All-MIAA awards to her honor, has the top three shot put throws in school history at UCO. Her latest record-setting heave, 14.78 meters at Oklahoma Baptist last month, was the qualifying throw.

Lyday is No. 20 out of 24 throwers selected for the event that will take place Saturday, May 25 at 11 a.m. at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.

Lyday set a new school record during her junior season, hitting 14.19 meters at OU last spring. This year, at the Outdoor season opener at North Texas, Lyday broke that record with a 14.22-meter throw. She followed that up two weeks later with the 14.78 mark at OBU.

In four MIAA Outdoor Championships, Lyday finished 12th, third, fifth, and third in the shot put, earning All-MIAA honors twice with podium finishes.

Lyday has four career wins in the shot put during her career with the Bronchos (2021-24).
