Three Bronchos In Latest ITA Rankings

Nefeli Zafeiri, Pete Komada, and Blythe Buntrock All Apear In This Week's Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – Central Oklahoma has two individuals and a doubles team listed in the latest ITA rankings announced Wednesday.

Nefeli Zafeiri is No. 59 and Pete Komada No. 69 in this week's ITA Singles Top 75, and Komada along with teammate Blythe Buntrock are No. 26 in the ITA Doubles Top 50.

Central Oklahoma is 7-9 this season with a 3-4 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos have one match left in the regular season – Saturday against rival Northeastern State in Edmond.

UCO has qualified for the 2024 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship, which is scheduled for May 3-5 at Edmond Center Court. The Bronchos can finish fifth with a win over NSU on Saturday, or sixth with a loss.

Zafeiri made her debut in the ITA Singles Top 75 two weeks after a shift in the lineup to the No. 1 position and some immediate success boosted her resume. She dipped out of the rankings last week, but is back now at No. 59. Zafeiri is 8-6 on the season, 4-3 at No. 1, 3-2 at No. 2, and 1-1 at No. 3 singles.

Komada is 7-7 on the season and has been ranked all year. The sophomore is 2-5 at No. 1, but 5-2 at No. 2 singles.

In doubles play, Komada and Buntrock are 7-7. The fall's ITA Central Region champions did not play together last week as Komada sat out.

Central Oklahoma hosts NSU Saturday at 3 p.m. The MIAA will release the bracket for the championship tournament following the final league matches this weekend.
