INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is listed among 10 teams in the first NCAA Central Region rankings of the baseball season.
Central Oklahoma is 34-11 this season with a 20-10 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos wrap up the 2024 regular season this weekend with a three-game series against Northwest Missouri beginning Friday night in Edmond.
The 2024 MIAA Baseball Championship begins with four first-round best-of-three series on campus sites. The top four teams in the league host Nos. 5-8. UCO is currently tied for third in the standings.
The 10 teams are listed alphabetically as "under consideration." There will be two releases over the next two weeks, with those teams listed in ranked order. The No. 1 & No. 2 teams in the region will host four-team tournaments May 16-18, and the two advancing teams will play in a Super Regional best-of-three series May 24-25.
The Central Region is comprised of 39 teams from the MIAA (12), GAC (12), and NSIC (14). The winners of each league's postseason tournament earn an automatic bid to the regional, with the next five best teams earning an at-large bid.
The 2024 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship will announce its field of 56 teams Sunday, May 12.
UCO also appeared in three different national rankings this week. The Bronchos are ranked No. 19 in the D2 Baseball Insider, No. 20 in the National College Baseball Writers Association, and No. 25 in the American Baseball Coaches Association poll.
