Bronchos Win Third Straight Title At Shangri-La

Bennett Baldwin Takes Individual Title In Leading UCO To Another Win

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Central Oklahoma junior Bennett Baldwin captured the individual title as he led the Bronchos to their third consecutive team title Tuesday in the Showdown at Shangri-La.
 
Baldwin posted a 54-hole 202 (65-68-69) to win his second career tournament. His 11-under-par is a career low for 54 holes.
 
"Bennett played really well all weekend," UCO head men's golf coach Derrick Thompson said. "All of our guys did. We're playing well right now and they did a good job staying focused and getting the job done this week."
 
Central Oklahoma shot an 849, one shot ahead of Harding (850). Rogers State finished third with an 861 in their own tournament. Central Missouri (865) and Winona State (869) rounded out the top five.

Tuesday's win gave UCO three consecutive tournament titles for the first time since September 2014. 
 
Jordan Wilson joined Baldwin in the top 10 with a sixth-place finish. He shot a 2-under-par 211 for the week. Wilson posted rounds of 3-under 68, 1-over 72, and finished with an even-par 71 on Tuesday.
 
Baylor Bostick made it three in the Top 20 with his 15th place finish. The freshman posted a 4-over-par 217. Bostick shot rounds of 73-73-71. Dylan Henderson finished tied for 28th with an 8-over-par 221. Henderson shot rounds of 76-70-75 this week.
 
Kyle Hickey was also in the lineup for the Bronchos this week and finished tied for 48th, shooting a 12-over 225 (75-76-74).
 
Baldwin, who sank nine birdies and an eagle in two rounds on Monday, kept the hot hand going on Tuesday. After opening his final round with a bogey on No. 1, Baldwin sank six birdie putts and three pars over the next nine holes to get to 5-under-par through 10. He sank six more par putts on the back nine to finish 2-under 71 for the day, and three shots ahead of Harding's Sam Tandy for the individual title.
 
Wilson played the front nine Tuesday 1-under par, sinking three birdie putts. He sank two more on the back nine, playing that 1-over, for an even-par 71 for the day.
 
Bostick played the front nine 2-under-par and the back nine 2-over. He sank six birdie putts and seven par putts during his final round Tuesday.
 
Henderson had three birdies and Hickey four during their final rounds.
 
Central Oklahoma wrapped up the regular season with this week's Showdown at Shangri-La. The Bronchos will go to the MIAA Men's Golf Championships April 15-17 at Shoal Creek in Kansas City, Mo.
