Bronchos Competing At OU This Weekend

Central Oklahoma Sending 16 To John Jacobs Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. – Central Oklahoma is back in action this weekend with the two-day John Jacobs Invitational at the University of Oklahoma Friday and Saturday.
 
Competition begins Friday evening and runs all day Saturday. The Bronchos are sending 16 student-athletes to OU with a small group getting started Friday night. Kelsey Drapeau will compete in the long jump, Talyn Been and Mattison Thetford will compete in the pole vault, and throwers Dahsauni Lyday, Abigail Kelly, and Lauren Wilson will all compete in the hammer throw, discus, and shot put.
 
On Saturday, Lyday and Wilson will both compete in the discus throw to wrap up the field events for the Bronchos this weekend.
 
Distance runners Noel Buckhaults and Kylee Smith will both compete in the 1,500 meters Saturday morning. Smith will get started with the 5,000 on Friday night. Genevieve Young will also get started Friday night with the 800 before competing in the 400 on Saturday.
 
Deriayah Lee is Central's lone hurdler and she will compete in both the 100- and 400-meter hurdles on Saturday.
 
Central Oklahoma's sprinter contingent will be active all day Saturday. Sai Brookins-Fleming, Karly Clemons, and Mikayla Stephenson will each run the 100- and 200-meter dash. Drapeau will return for the 200 and Reta Ojene will also race. Ojene will come back for the 400-meter race and will be joined by Kerrigan Huynh and Jakayla Swanson.
 
Central Oklahoma has spent the entire Outdoor season in Texas, with four track meets at North Texas, Prairie View A&M, Texas, and North Texas again. The Bronchos are scheduled to compete at OU this weekend, then Oklahoma Baptist next weekend in Shawnee before gearing up for the postseason. The 2024 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for May 3-5 in Maryville, Missouri.
