Treasure Vallerie Earns All-American Honors At National Championships

Central Oklahoma Freshman Breaks School Record In Indoor Finale

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma freshman Treasure Vallerie wrapped up her Indoor season with an All-American honor at the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships Friday at Pittsburg State's Robert W. Plaster Center.

Vallerie, from San Antonio, Texas, posted a school record in the 400 meters as she raced to a 12th place finish. She crossed the finish line in 54.79 seconds, which was good for second in her heat. Vallerie was one of five freshmen to qualify for the national championships and finished second among rookies in Friday's preliminary races. The top eight advance to Saturday's finals.

Vallerie broke the UCO eight-year-old school record in the 400 two weeks ago at the MIAA Championships as she raced to a third-place finish. That mark of 55.40 was 0.45 seconds better than the previous record. She now topped it again with the 54.79 time on Friday.

Vallerie also competed in the 200-meter prelims Friday looking for a chance to compete in the finals. She crossed the finish line in 24.85 seconds and finished 20th out of 20 national qualifiers. Vallerie's season-best 24.04 at the MIAA Championships two weeks ago set a school record. Her mark on Saturday matched the previous record also set in 2016.

Central Oklahoma begins Outdoor Track & Field season next weekend in Texas. The Bronchos are competing in the UNT Bill Schmidt Invite at North Texas in Denton Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16.
