Terin Ritz Named MIAA Hitter of the Week

Central Oklahoma's All-American Junior Topped The League With A Week Of Strong Performances

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Terin Ritz was named MIAA Hitter of the Week, the league announced Monday, following the junior All-American's standout week.

UCO went 5-1 this past week, splitting a doubleheader at Southern Nazarene before heading to Springfield, Mo. for the Drury Classic. There, UCO went unbeaten, taking down Minnesota-Crookston 8-0 and Missouri S&T 12-2 on Friday, then Minnesota-Duluth 6-1 and Drury 5-3 on Saturday.

Ritz hit .444 with eight hits in 18 at bats while also driving in nine runs in the six games this week. She had two doubles, two homers and one triple in addition to scoring nine runs. The pitcher/first baseman finished with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .583 on-base percentage.

Ritz was also nominated for MIAA Pitcher of the Week. She went 3-0 with an 0.90 ERA last week, giving up just two earned runs in 20 innings. She started three games, completing two. Opponents batted just .197 against Ritz, who struck out nine and allowed just two walks.

Central Oklahoma, ranked No. 12 in the country in the latest NFCA Top 25, begins conference play this weekend. The Bronchos welcome Washburn and Emporia State to award-winning Gerry Pinkston Stadium in Edmond for a pair of MIAA doubleheaders. UCO will host the Ichabods from Topeka, Kansas Friday afternoon and the Lady Hornets from Emporia, Kansas on Saturday.
