Hannah Demoff Named MIAA Hitter of the Week

Central Oklahoma Freshman Led UCO On Blistering Pace

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma freshman Hannah Demoff was named MIAA Softball Hitter of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
The shortstop from Chino, California had a big weekend in leading No. 20 Central Oklahoma to a 4-0 road trip in the MIAA. The Bronchos beat Nebraska Kearney 14-7 & 16-1 before beating Fort Hays State 4-2 & 21-9.
 
Demoff went 10-for-14 at the plate this weekend, a .714 batting average, with three doubles and a home run. She had five RBIs and scored five runs.
 
On Friday at Kearney, Demoff went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in the first game. She went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in the second game. Saturday at Fort Hays State, Demoff started the day 0-for-2 but came back to go 5-for-5 with a double, a home run, four RBIs, and two runs scored in the second game.
 
Demoff tied a UCO record with five hits in one game and is just the third player to every do it in Central's storied history of softball. Morgan Heard (2016) and Tori Collet (2014) also had five hits in a single game.
 
UCO is 37-10 on the season with a 14-4 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos are tied for second place in the MIAA standings and play at first-place Pitt State and co-second place Missouri Southern this weekend.
 
The Bronchos close out the regular season at home against Newman on Friday, May 1. It will be Senior Day at Gerry Pinkston Stadium in Edmond. The MIAA Softball Championship is scheduled for May 6-9 in Emporia, Kansas.
