Bronchos Take Skip Wagnon Invitational Title

UCO Has Two of Top Three Teams In Edmond Tournament

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma won its second tournament in a row Tuesday with the Bronchos taking top honors at the Skip Wagnon Invitational at Rose Creek.
 
UCO posted a 54-hole 853, 1-over-par, to take the team title from Central Missouri, which finished second at 858. UCO's B-Team took third with an 879, and Southwestern Oklahoma State (891) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (897) rounded out the top five.
 
Jordan Wilson led the Bronchos, taking a second-place finish with a 2-under-par 210 for the week. Wilson tied for first after 54 holes but lost a playoff with a par on 18 as North Texas' Simon Roessler sank a birdie putt to take the title.
 
Bennett Baldwin tied for fifth individually with an even-par 212. Kyle Hickey finished tied for eighth with a 2-over-par 214, and Dylan Henderson finished tied for 11th with a 5-over 217.
 
UCO used four players in its first team lineup after Nick Canales withdrew due to injury.
 
Wilson held the lead Tuesday morning after firing back-to-back 3-under 68s on Monday. He shot a 3-over 74 to finish the tournament. Wilson had a pair of birdies and 12 pars on Tuesday.
 
Baldwin had his best round of the week on Tuesday. After shooting even-par 71 and 1-over 72 on Monday, the junior from Stillwater posted a 2-under 69 to wrap up the tourney on Tuesday. Baldwin had 14 pars and three birdies.
 
Hickey started 3-under like Wilson, then shot a 1-over 72 Monday afternoon. He came back Tuesday with a 3-over 74 to finish the tournament at 214. Henderson, who shot 70-73 on Monday, also posted a 3-over-par 74 on Tuesday.
 
Baylor Bostick led the second team, finishing third in the individual race. Bostick was just one shot off the playoff as he posted a 1-under 211 for the tournament. Bostick sank five birdies and one eagle on Tuesday.
 
Ross Taylor finished 14th with a 219, Evan Griffith finished 22nd with a 224, and Caleb Kimmel finished 29th with a 227. Riley Harris was also in the lineup for the second team and finished 43rd with a 236.
 
Central Oklahoma returns to the course next week for the Spring MIAA Event, hosted by Rogers State at Shangri-La April 1-2. The MIAA Men's Golf Championships are scheduled for April 22-24 at Shoal Creek in Kansas City.
