UCO Dominates First 36 At Skip Wagnon Invite

Bronchos Take 10-Shot Lead Into Final Round With Top Three Individuals In The Field

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma has a 10-stroke lead after 36 holes of play in the Skip Wagnon Invitational Monday at Rose Creek.
 
Jordan Wilson is in first individually, Kyle Hickey is in second place, and Bennett Baldwin and Dylan Henderson are tied for 11th after 36 holes.
 
The Bronchos carded a 36-hole 562 after shooting a 7-under-par 277 and a 1-over-par 285 on Monday. Central Missouri (572) is second, UCO's B-Team (584) is third, and Southwestern Oklahoma State (588) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (597) round out the top five.
 
Baylor Bostick led UCO's second team and is third individually. Ross Taylor is in eighth place. Evan Griffith is 24th and Caleb Kimmel 34th after two rounds. Riley Harris also competed on the second team and is 37th individually.
 
Nick Canales withdrew from the tournament late in the first round due to injury.
 
Wilson, a junior from Edmond, fired back-to-back 3-under-par 68s to take the lead into the final round. He sank 12 birdie putts in the first 36 holes, with seven in the first round and five more in the second round. Wilson led the field in birdie putts, and he also led the field with a 2-under-par score on Par 3s.
 
Hickey matched Wilson's opening round 68, then shot a 1-over-par 72 in the second round Monday afternoon. Hickey's nine birdie putts Monday are second only to Wilson. He also had a tournament-high seven in the first round and sank two more in the second round.
 
Baldwin posted an even-par 71 in the first round and followed that with a 1-over 72. Henderson shot a 1-under 70 in Round 1 before posting a 2-over-par 73 in the second round.
 
Bostick, like Wilson and Hickey, fired a 3-under-par 68 in the first round of the tournament Monday morning. He came back with a 2-over-par 73 in the second round. Bostick had seven birdies in the two rounds, including five in the first trip around Rose Creek.
 
Taylor shot a 1-under 70 and a 1-over 72 to land at even-par 142 for the tournament and a tie for eighth place individually. Taylor sank five birdie putts on the day and was UCO's leader with 15 made par putts.
 
Griffith posted rounds of 1-over 72 and 7-over 78. Kimmel shot 6-over 77 and 5-over 76. And Harris shot 8-over 79 and 5-over 76 for his two rounds Monday.
 
Tuesday's play, likely to be delayed due to cold temperatures, is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Officials are discussing a 10 a.m. start time and will make a decision Tuesday morning.
