Bronchos Break Relay Record In Texas

Central Oklahoma Wraps Up Highly Successful Weekend At Prairie View A&M's PV Relays

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the PV Relays Saturday with two relays and a hurdles sprint, ending a successful weekend with another school record.

The Bronchos finished third in the 4x100 and second in the 4x400 relays, while Deriayah Lee raced to a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.

The 4x100 team came 0.07 seconds shy of a school record before the second relay team broke the school record in the 4x400. Mikayla Stephenson, Treasure Vallerie, Sai Brookins-Fleming, and Jakayla Swanson ran the 4x100 in 47.22 seconds, finishing behind Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.

Brookins-Fleming, Kerrigan Huynh, Swanson and Vallerie ran in the 4x400 Saturday evening and finished second behind PVAMU by the slimmest of margins. The host relay team finished in 3:47.07 and the Bronchos finished in 3:47.91, a mark that broke a nine-year-old school record at UCO.

Lee raced to a fourth-place finish in 15.09 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles behind three sprinters from Prairie View. She finished third in the 400-hurdles Friday.

Central Oklahoma put up more than 100 team points on Friday, turning the second Outdoor meet of the season into a great showing. The Bronchos will compete in Texas again each of the next two weekends, heading to Austin next weekend and Denton in two weeks.
