Central Oklahoma Heads To Ichabod Invitational Saturday

TOPEKA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma makes its return to the track this weekend in what will be the last Indoor meet of the regular season when the Bronchos take on the Ichabod Invitational at Washburn.
 
Central Oklahoma is sending 14 competitors to the meet, which is at the site of the 2024 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 23-25.
 
More than half a dozen sprinters will be competing. Sai Brookins-Fleming, Karly Clemons, Kelsey Drapeau, Reta Ojene, Mikayla Stephenson, and Jakayla Swanson will all compete in the 60 meters. Brookins-Fleming and Treasure Vallerie are scheduled to run the 200, and Brookins-Fleming, Ojene, and Vallerie will compete in the 400.
 
Drapeau will also compete in the long jump. Genevieve Young is scheduled to compete in the 600 yards and 800 meters. Kylee Smith will run in the 3,000, and hurdler Deriayah Lee will compete in the 60-meter hurdles.
 
Talyn Been and Mattison Thetford are scheduled to compete in the pole vault and Dahsauni Lyday will throw the shot put and the weight throw. Lauren Wilson will join Lyday in the weight throw.
 
Swason has Central's best performance this season in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77 seconds at OU in December. Brookins-Fleming (7.86) and Stephenson (8.05) also have top-three times this year.
 
Vallerie has UCO's top performance in the 200 with a 24.85 second mark at Pittsburg State two weeks ago. Brookins-Fleming is second with her 25.32 second mark in the same event. Vallerie also owns the top performance in the 400 (56.62) and Brookins-Fleming is second (57.92). Lee has been UCO's lone hurdler this season and has a top performance of 9.11 seconds.
 
Young (2:20.55) looks for new PR in the 800, Smith (12:44.71) in the 3,000, and Thetford (3.51m) and Been (3.21m) in the pole vault. Drapeau is making her season debut in the 60 meters. She's got a season-best 5.42 meters in the long jump.
 
For the UCO throwers, Lyday has top performances of 13.41 meters in the shot put and 14.95 meters in the weight throw. Wilson has a season-best 10.96 meters.
 
Central Oklahoma will return to Washburn in two weeks for the postseason.
