Central Oklahoma Visits Nebraska Kearney

Bronchos Take On Lopers In First Of Two MIAA Road Games This Weekend

KEARNEY, Neb. – Central Oklahoma opens a short, two-game road trip Thursday with an MIAA matchup against Nebraska Kearney. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
UCO is 5-16 on the season and has a 4-11 record in the MIAA. Kearney is 15-6 on the year and 9-6 in league play. Central will also play at Fort Hays State Saturday at 2 p.m. The Tigers of Hays, Kansas are 16-5 overall and 10-5 in the MIAA.
 
"What has hurt us all year is not playing four quarters," second-year UCO head women's basketball coach Emma Andrews said. "In the games that we've won, we played well for four quarters, and in the games we've had a chance, we did better. But it's hurt us too much not playing all four quarters. We have to better at that to have a chance."
 
Central Oklahoma hosted Nebraska Kearney back on Dec. 18 in Hamilton Field House. After trailing by 14 after one quarter, the Bronchos had it down to a two-point game going to the fourth quarter. UCO took a lead late in the fourth before falling to the Lopers.
 
Central Oklahoma heads to Nebraska averaging 63.8 points per game. The Bronchos shoot 37.3 percent from the floor and 27.5 percent from behind the 3-point line with an average of 5.7 made threes per game. UCO also shoots 73.5 percent from the free-throw line with an average of 12 makes per game from the stripe.
 
Reagan Fox leads the team in scoring at 8.8 points per game. The sophomore from Blanchard shoots 33.8 percent from the floor, has 31 made 3-pointers, and is 46-for-50 (92.0 percent) from the free-throw line. Fox also averages 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
 
Karly Wadsworth also averages 8.8 points per game this season. She leads the team with 37 made 3-pointers and is shooting 39.6 percent from the field overall. Wadsworth ranks second on the team with 61 made shots, more than half from outside. She is one of seven Bronchos to average at least one steal per game.
 
Alena Wilson chips in 8.1 points per game this season with a team-high 73 made baskets this season. Wilson, a junior from Dallas, also leads the team with 5.8 rebounds per game. She has pulled down 43 offensive rebounds and 52 defensive boards this season.
 
Aliyah Llanusa is fourth on the team in scoring at 6.9 points per game. The fifth-year senior also averages 5.0 rebounds per game. Llanusa leads the team with 49 made free-throws and has also been to the line more times (60) than any other Broncho.
 
LaKysia Johnson is averaging 6.5 points per game in her first season with the Bronchos. Johnson has 53 made baskets this season and is shooting 46.9 percent from the floor. Natalie Stice, a sixth-year senior from Texas, averages 5.5 points and has 18 made 3-pointers on the year.
 
Caley Young adds 5.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Talia Pogi averages 3.7 points and Gracee Miller adds 3.3 points per game. Alexis Martin (2.8), Lexi Foreman (1.3) and Tayler Factor (1.0) round out the lineup for the Bronchos.
 
Nebraska Kearney, which is currently seventh in the MIAA standings, welcomes the Bronchos to town averaging 73.2 points per game. The Lopers give up 60.4 to opponents.
 
UNK has four averaging double figures. Shiloh McCool (13.1) leads the team, while Kia Wilson (10.6), Meg Burns (10.4) and Jillian Aschoff (10.2) also help out. McCool is also the teams' leading rebounder at 9.6 boards per game and Aschoff averages 7.0 rebounds per game.
 
Central Oklahoma will play at Fort Hays State Saturday at 2 p.m. to wrap up the short trip. The Bronchos only have one game on the schedule next week, hosting Washburn on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m.
