Preston Giltner Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

Broncho Right-Hander Tossed One-Hit Shutout Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma junior right-hander Preston Giltner was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday, following his dominant performance this past weekend.

Giltner, from Overland Park, Kansas, and a transfer from Butler Community College, got the start for the Bronchos Saturday against Arkansas Monticello. He threw a complete-game one-hit shutout as the Bronchos beat the Boll Weevils, 4-0.
 
It marked the 14th one-hitter for Central since 1960 and the first since Dylan Hall did it at the MIAA Baseball Championship first round in 2019.
 
Giltner threw all 7.0 innings in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. He struck out six batters and only gave up one single in the top of the sixth inning. Giltner issued one walk too in retiring 21 of 23 batters faced.
 
Central Oklahoma is 8-0 this season and the Bronchos are hosting East Central (1-8) Tuesday at 3 p.m. and Oklahoma Christian (2-6) Saturday at the same time.
