Central Oklahoma Hosts Pitt State In MIAA Opener

Bronchos Aim To Start League Play On High Note

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma plays its third home game of the season this week and it'll be the first MIAA game for the Bronchos as UCO welcomes Pittsburg State to Hamilton Field House. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Bronchos are 1-7 this season following a rugged month of November schedule that included six road games. Central Oklahoma started the year 0-3 before a win at Midwestern State in Week 2. UCO looks to snap a four-game losing streak against Pitt State Wednesday night.

Pittsburg State comes to Edmond with a 6-1 record on the season. The Gorillas, ranked No. 13 in the country in last week's WBCA Top 25, dropped the season-opener to then ranked 15th Ferris State, before winning the last six outings.

Central Oklahoma is also looking to snap a four-game slide against Pittsburg State. The Bronchos had won three straight prior to the current streak, but the overall series stands 18-4 in favor of PSU.

UCO is averaging 61.6 points per game through eight games this season. The Bronchos shoot 38.4 percent from the floor overall, 25.2 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 65.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bronchos give up 74.0 points per game with opponents shooting 44.1 percent from the floor. Teams make 31.7 percent of 3-pointers against UCO and 72.9 percent of free-throws.

A trio of double-digit scorers lead UCO. LaKysia Johnson leads the team at 12.4 points per game, with Korie Allensworth averaging 12.3 points per game. Jordyn Turner adds 10.8 points per game.

Johnson has come off the bench in all eight games to lead the team in scoring. She also averages 3.8 rebounds and a team-high 1.8 steals per game. Allensworth adds 5.6 rebounds per game while Turner leads the way on the boards at 9.1 rebounds per game.

Gracee Miller is near double figures, averaging 8.4 points per game. She adds 2.5 rebounds and a team-high 2.4 assists per game. Talia Pogi scores 7.3 points per game and adds 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Karly Wadsworth, a fifth-year senior guard, is averaging 5.3 points per game. The guard is coming off a 5-for-7 3-point performance last week at No. 4 Texas Woman's. With her seven attempts, Wadsworth set a new school record for most career 3-point attempts (512). She ranks sixth in career 3-pointers made (160).

Central Oklahoma has two MIAA games this week, and only one non-conference contest left this season. The Bronchos host Missouri Southern Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and will take a weekend off before traveling to UC Colorado Springs Dec. 17. UCO returns home for an MIAA matchup with Rogers State (Dec. 22) to wrap up the 2024 portion of the 2024-25 schedule.
