Central Oklahoma Wraps Up Fall Competition With MSU Invitational

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Central Oklahoma wrapped up its fall competition this weekend with the Midwestern State Invitational, where the Bronchos sent four of its squad members for a final time for the first semester.

Sophomore Ayaka Koga won her bracket with a 3-0 record in singles competition. Karyna Yurchenko went 1-1, while Hui Soo and Anika Ouwejan went 0-1.

In doubles play, Koga and Yurchenko teamed up and went 1-1, while Soo and Ouwejan went 0-1.

Koga, from Chiba, Japan, beat Ouachita Baptist's Karli Gay in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, before her semifinal opponent from Angelo State withdrew. In the Flight D final, Koga faced Sarah Mazaraki of Midwestern State and won 6-4, 7-5 to take the group title.

In doubles play, Koga and Yurchenko beat Cameron's Martyna Jankowska and Kateryna Rudenko, 7-6 (10-8) before falling in the semifinals to Midwestern State's Hattie Berend and Kanaha Furutani, 6-4.

Central Oklahoma is done for the fall portion of its 2024-25 schedule. The Bronchos will return in February for the second half.
