OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma got on the water for the first time this fall and won one race at the annual Head of the Oklahoma Saturday on the Oklahoma River.
Central's Novice/Freshman 4+ was the first boat out Saturday morning and the group finished sixth with a time of 20:44. Tulsa, Colorado, TCU, Rice, and Oklahoma State finished in front of Central Oklahoma.
In the Collegiate 4+, Central had two boats on the water. UCO's A Boat finished 14th with a time of 17:10, and its B Boat finished 17th with a time of 18:06. Kansas, Alabama, and Tulsa had multiple boats ahead of Central Oklahoma.
In the Novice/Freshman 8+ Central Oklahoma won its first race of the day. A time of 16:39 was more than two minutes better than Oklahoma State, Texas, Colorado, Colorado State, TCU, and a second OSU boat.
UCO's final race of the day was the Collegiate 8+ and the Bronchos had two boats on the water again. Central's A Boat finished 11th with a time of 15:45, and its B Boat finished 15th with a time of 18:05. OU, Wisconsin, Alabama, and Tulsa had boats in front of UCO in this final race.
Central Oklahoma has three races on its fall schedule including Saturday's Head of the Oklahoma. The Bronchos will also race at Tulsa and at Wichita State before breaking for winter.
