Central Oklahoma Hosts Two MIAA Matches This Weekend

Bronchos Welcome Northwest Missouri, Missouri Western To Tom Thompson Field

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma returns home for two big MIAA matches this weekend starting with Northwest Missouri Friday night at 7 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.
 
Central Oklahoma is 4-3-1 this season and 1-0-1 in the MIAA. Northwest Missouri is 3-2-3 overall and 1-1-0 in league play. The Bronchos will also host Missouri Western (7-0-1, 2-0-0) Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
"These are two big games for us," UCO head soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "Both teams are really good and it's going to take a great effort from the whole team. We played really well last weekend in our first weekend of conference play, and we need to do that again here this weekend."
 
UCO opened conference play with a 0-0 draw at No. 21 Washburn, and then a 3-1 win at unranked Emporia State.
 
Central Oklahoma is averaging 2.13 goals per game this season, which ranks second among all MIAA squads. The Bronchos average 14.0 shots per game and put 55.4 percent of those shots on goal. Defensively, Central allows 1.75 goals per game. Opponents shoot 10.6 shots per game against the Bronchos and put 50.6 percent of those shots on goal.
 
A trio of Bronchos have led the way for the offense, while 10 different players have scored at least one goal this season.
 
Graduate transfer Rebekah George, who is from Choctaw, Oklahoma, leads the team with four goals this season. The midfielder has one assist too for a team-high nine points scored. Madison Linavong, a senior from Allen, Texas, and Caleah Carter, a freshman from Edmond, both have three goals and one assist this season for seven total points.
 
Freshman Jordan Hahn and junior Rebecca Tweedy lead the team with two assists each, and both have scored one goal. Those two, along with Albany Adair, Harmony Turner, Callie Harbert, Evelyn Sydnes, and Jordan Tanges all have scored once this season.
 
Central Oklahoma has used both Avery Bass and Olivia Vigil in goal this season. Bass has played in six games, six starts, and has logged a total of 471 minutes this season. She has allowed 10 goals, 1.91 GAA, and made 24 saves. Vigil has played in four games, two starts, and has played 248 minutes in goal. She has allowed four goals, 1.45 GAA, and has made five saves.
 
This weekend is the first two of a four-game homestand for Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos are also hosting Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney next weekend before hitting the road.
