WACO, Texas – Central Oklahoma continued its unblemished start to the 2024 football season with a win Saturday at Northeastern State and the 7-0 Bronchos are now No. 9 in the country in the latest AFCA Top 25.
UCO (7-0, 5-0 MIAA) hosts No. 7 Pittsburg State (6-1, 5-1) Saturday at Chad Richison Stadium. The Homecoming game kicks off a 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live on 38 The Spot in the Kansas City tv market, KOCB 34 in the Oklahoma City market, and on The MIAA Network.
Central Oklahoma is also No. 6 in the D2Football.com Top 25, with Pitt State checking at No. 3. In Wayne Cavadi's NCAA Division II Power Rankings, Pitt is third and Central is fourth.
Saturday's showdown is also a meeting of two of the most successful programs in Division II history. Pitt State owns the top spot with 756 all-time wins and UCO ranks fifth at 660. Each time the two schools meet on the football field, it's a new Division II record for most combined wins between opponents.
Central Oklahoma beat Northeastern State 64-57 Saturday afternoon in Tahlequah to retain the President's Cup for a 10th consecutive season. The frantic scoring fest is the highest scoring game between two teams in school history. UCO also trailed 40-14 in the second quarter, and 57-43 in the fourth quarter.
Central Oklahoma is 7-0 for the first time since 2003 and the Bronchos look to go 8-0 for the first time since 1999.
