UCO Finishes Sixth In Bartlesville

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Jirasuda Khunarak's final round 2-under-par helped Central Oklahoma to a sixth-place finish at the Central Regional Preview at Hillcrest Country Club Tuesday.

Khunarak, a senior from Thailand, shot a 3-over-par 75 on Monday in the first round. She bested that on Tuesday, posting a 2-under-par 70. Khunarak was 1-over after the second hole, but maintained that with four straight pars. She birdied Nos. 7 & 9 to finish the front 9 1-under. Khunarak kept it going on the back 9 with eight pars and a birdie on No. 12 to put two 35s together and post her career low, 70.

Three times has Khunarak posted a 72, with two of those for even-par. Tuesday is her first round as a Broncho under par.

Emma Shelley, whose home course is Hillcrest, shaved one shot off her opening round score and posted a 3-over 75 on Tuesday. She finished the tournament at 7-over with a 151. Shelley made 10 par putts and three birdies in Tuesday's final round.

Scarlet Sturch, a freshman from Durant, finished tied for 35th individually. She shot a 36-hole 154. Sturch posted a 4-over 76 on Monday and a 6-over 78 Tuesday. She sank nine par putts and a pair of birdies in the final round.

Mika Ramos, a senior from Tulsa, was one shot back. She finished tied for 37th with a 155. Ramos posted a 4-over 76 on Monday before shooting a 7-over 79 on Tuesday. Ramos had one birdie and made 10 par putts.

Estela Castillo was UCO's fifth in the lineup. In the freshman's second career tournament, she posted a 17-over-par 161 (83-78). Drew Faires, a junior college transfer, also competed as an individual. She posted a 19-over-par 163 (81-82).

Central Oklahoma will play its home course next week as the Bronchos host the annual Grace Shin Invitational. UCO welcomes teams to The Golf Club of Edmond Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3 for a two-day 36-hole event.

Central Oklahoma is also scheduled to play in the Midwest Classic at Mules National in Warrensburg, Missouri Oct. 16-17, and the Tulsa Cup at The Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow Oct. 23-24.
