Four PRs Highlight Bronchos At OU

NORMAN, Okla. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the Sooner Invitational with two days of competition at Oklahoma's John Jacobs Track Complex.
 
UCO got a 10th-place finish from Dahsauni Lyday on Friday in the hammer throw, with Tatum Robertson just behind in 12th place. Lyday finishes 12th in the shot put on Saturday and Robertson, 21st. Lyday wrapped up a busy weekend with a 16th-place finish in the discus throw Saturday, when Gracie Tytenicz joined in and finished 25th.
 
Lyday scored 10th in the hammer with a throw of 42.71 meters, 12th in the shot put at 13.48 meters, and 16th in the discus at 39.40 meters. Robertson finished 12th in the hammer at 39.47 meters and 21st in the shot put at 11.95 meters. Tytenicz finished 25th in the discus at 32.56 meters.
 
The Bronchos also had two of its pole vaulters land Top 15 performances. Mattison Thetford posted an 11th-place finish and Tayln Been finished 15th. Thetford cleared 3.50 meters and Been cleared 3.20 meters.
 
Dekayla Gaines had races on both Friday and Saturday. She finished 19th in the 100-meter prelims on Friday and 27th in the 200 on Saturday. Gaines finished the 100 in 12.54 seconds and the 200 in 25.89 seconds. UCO's distance crew had two compete in the 1500 on Saturday, with Gracie Sanders finishing 21st and Noel Buckhaults 27th. Sanders finished in 5:07.13 and Buckhaults finished in 5:39.82.
 
Robertson's shot put is a career best for the senior from Cashion, Oklahoma. Sanders, a freshman, recorded a season-best in the 1500 while Thetford and Been, also freshmen, recorded season-bests in the pole vault.
 
UCO has two more competetions in the regular season left on the schedule. The Bronchos will go to Langston next weekend and Southwestern College (Kan.) at the end of the month before the 2023 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Missouri in May.
