Lyday, Thetford, Lead UCO In Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. – Dahsauni Lyday and Mattison Thetford both posted Top 10 finishes at this weekend's KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State.

Lyday competed in both the shot put and the discus throw over the weekend and logged a sixth-place finish in the shot, hitting 13.46 meters on her third throw. It's the fifth-best mark of her All-MIAA career. Lyday also finished 11th in the discus with a 41.84-meter heave, which is her third-best mark.

Thetford, a freshman that joined the program in January, finished tied for seventh in the pole vault. She cleared 2.75 meters in one attempt and 3.05 meters on her second attempt. Thetford then cleared 3.35 on her first attempt, posting a new PR.

Luz Lugo-Ponce and Jolie Oliver also competed in the pole vault and both finished tied for 22nd, clearing 2.75 meters. Tatum Robertson was the lone entry in the hammer throw and she finished 22nd at 39.50 meters.

Dekayla Gaines competed in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. The junior sprinter from Edmond finished 22nd in the 100 (12.56 seconds) and 24th in the 200 (26.17 seconds).

UCO's distance crew of Gracie Sanders and Noel Buckhaults competed in the 5,000-meter run on Friday night. Sanders finished 28th at 18:45.67 and Buckhaults finished 52nd (20:51.60).

Central Oklahoma is back in action this weekend. The Bronchos visit the University of Oklahoma to compete in the Sooner Invitational.
