Bronchos Third In Arkansasf

FORT SMITH, Ark. (March 5) – Caleb Kimmel and Bennett Baldwin are among the individual leaders and Central Oklahoma is third after first-day play in the Hardscrabble Invitational Monday.

Kimmel is tied for seventh after rounds of 72-71 and Baldwin shot consecutive 72s in finishing in a ninth-place tie after two trips around the 6,783-yard, par-70 Hardscrabble Country Club UCO has a 580 total after shooting 289-291.

Henderson State leads with a 563 total, followed by Midwestern State (577), UCO and West Texas A&M (581). Final-round play begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Bronchos also got rounds of 73-72 from Evan Griffith, 72-77 from Kyle Hickey and 74-76 from Dylan Henderson. Ross Taylor shot 80-75 competing as an individual medalist.

Kimmel parred the last 10 holes in his morning round of 72. The junior got off to a hot start in the afternoon and was three-under through 10 holes before playing the final eight holes four over.

Baldwin made 11 straight pars at one point in his opening-round 72, then had a double bogey, two bogeys, two birdies and 13 pars in shooting an identical 72 in the afternoon.
