Bronchos Downed In Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 8 Central Oklahoma saw an unfortunate trend continue Sunday with a 4-3 loss to No. 14 St. Mary's in a non-conference dual.
 
UCO is now 5-5 following the loss. The Bronchos beat Dallas Baptist 6-1 on Saturday as part of their two-day trip to Texas.
 
Central Oklahoma swept the doubles point with wins at all three positions, but StMU picked up four wins in Singles play to take the match.
 
Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock picked up a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles and Tizia Brocks and Karyna Yurchenko won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. Nafeli Zafeiri and Pete Komada won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles to get the clean sweep and the 1-0 lead for the Bronchos.
 
Boyar won 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles and Yurchenko won 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 at No. 5 singles but UCO couldn't get another point.
 
Komada fell 0-6, 4-6 at No. 1, Buntrock 1-6, 6-2, 3-6 at No. 2, and Zafeiri 7-6, 0-6, 2-6 at No. 3 singles. Brocks also lost 2-6, 1-6 at No. 6 singles.
 
UCO has just one game on the schedule next week, with the MIAA opener set for Saturday against Northeastern State in Tahlequah.
