Bronchos Ready For Arkansas Tourney

The Central Oklahoma men's golf team resumes the spring season Monday and Tuesday at the Hardscrabble Invitational in Fort Smith, Ark.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament opens at 8 a.m. Monday at the 6,783-yard, par-70 Hardscrabble Country Club before finishing with 18 holes Tuesday. It's the first action for the Bronchos since the spring opener at the Houston Classic Feb. 13-14.

"We're excited about getting back to competition," head coach Derrick Thompson said. "We didn't play very well in our first tournament, but the guys have been really working hard the last few weeks and they're ready to go."

Making up UCO's five-man team will be senior Kyle Hickey, juniors Evan Griffith and Caleb Kimmel and sophomores Bennett Baldwin and Dylan Henderson. Junior Ross Taylor will compete as an individual medalist.

Baldwin leads the team with a 74.13 scoring average and has three top-20 finishes while playing in all six tournaments this season. Kimmel has a 74.69 average with three top-20s and Griffith is at 75.75 with a pair of top-20s as both veterans have also played in all six events.

Taylor has been in the top 20 twice and sports a 74.92 average in five tournaments. Hickey and Henderson have played in one event apiece.
