No. 8 Bronchos Win in Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 8 Central Oklahoma won all but one in a 6-1 non-conference passing of Dallas Baptist Saturday morning at the Arlington Tennis Center.
 
UCO improved to 5-4 following the win. The Bronchos are also taking on 14th-ranked St. Mary's of Austin, Texas, in Dallas on Sunday morning.
 
Highly-rated doubles standouts Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock picked up a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles after Nafeli Zafeiri and Pete Komada won by the same score at No. 3 doubles. DBU won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles over Central's Tizia Brocks and Karyna Yurchenko but the win by Boyar and Buntrock gave UCO the early 1-0 lead in the dual.
 
Buntrock then won in less than an hour at No. 2 Singles, 6-3, 6-1, to give UCO a 2-0 lead. Boyar won 6-2, 6-2, in just over an hours to make it 3-0, and Yurchenko clinched the match at No. 5 Singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win to make it 4-0.
 
Brocks also won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 Singles before Zafeiri suffered a 6-3, 1-6, 3-6 loss in three sets at No. 3 Singles. Komada also went three sets and pushed it to 6-1 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles in 2:10 to close out the match.
 
Central Oklahoma meets St. Mary's Sunday at 9 a.m. and then will travel to Northeastern State on Saturday, March 18 for the first MIAA dual of the season.
