Dahsauni Lyday Wins Shot Put In Big Weekend

Central Oklahoma Competed In The OBU Invite In Shawnee, Oklahoma Friday and Saturday

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Dahsauni Lyday finished first in the shot put to lead a dozen Bronchos in the OBU Invite this weekend, with UCO wrapping up the two-day event with nine Top 10 performances.

Lyday competed both days in the hammer, discus, and shot put and the junior from Wagoner, Oklahoma put together a strong weekend of throws. She finished third in the hammer on Friday, hitting 45.72 meters. On Saturday, she added a fourth-place finish in the discus (40.62m) before winning the shot put event with a 13.45-meter throw. Her shot put mark ranks 15th in Division II through two weeks of Outdoor season.
 
Tatum Robertson added a pair of Top 10s alongside Lyday in two throwing events this weekend. Robertson finished seventh in the hammer throw on Friday with a 42.29-meter mark. She finished ninth in the shot put Saturday at 11.50 meters.
 
Gracie Titenicz also competed this weekend and finished 16th in the discus (29.36m) and 20th in the shot put (9.78m).
 
UCO's pole vault contingent all finished in the Top 10 Saturday. Talyn Been led the group with a fifth-place finish at 3.20 meters. Mattison Thetford was sixth at 3.05 meters, Luz Lugo-Ponce finished eighth at 2.85 meters, and Jolie Oliver finished ninth at 2.65 meters.
 
Dekayla Gaines represented UCO as its only sprinter this weekend as the junior competed in the 100- and 200-meter dash. Gaines finished 17th in both events, crossing the finish line in the 100 meters in 12.67 seconds and the 200 meters in 26.15 seconds.
 
A trio of distance runners took to the course at OBU this weekend. Noel Buckhaults ran the 1500 on Friday and finished 16th with a time of 5:30.86. Gracie Sanders ran the 5,000 meters on Friday too and finished 13th with a time of 18:52.36.
 
Sanders came back on Saturday to run in a second 1500 and she was joined by Kylee Smith. Sanders finished 12th (5:08.99) and Smith finished 26th (6:25.60).
 
Central Oklahoma will take next weekend off before competing in Wichita State's annual KT Woodman Classic April 7-8 in Wichita, Kansas.
