Bronchos Downed at NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – No. 17 Central Oklahoma suffered a loss in its first MIAA dual of the season Saturday, falling 6-1 at Northeastern State.
 
UCO dropped the doubles point, putting the Bronchos in an early hole. Nefeli Zafeiri and Pete Komada won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles, but NSU picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to take the early point.
 
Komada lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles in a quick match that put the Bronchos in a 2-0 deficit. After a 6-3, 6-1 loss from Nikki Boyar at No. 4 singles made it 3-0, NSU clinched the match with a win at No. 2 singles, 7-6, 6-2, over Blythe Buntrock.
 
Zafeiri got UCO's only win at No. 3 singles, earning a 7-5, 6-4 win.
 
NSU also won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 singles over Karyna Yurchenko and 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 at No. 6 singles over Tizia Brocks.
 
UCO will host its first MIAA home dual at Broncho Courts next weekend. The Bronchos are welcoming Missouri Western to Edmond with a 12 p.m. first serve.
