No. 17 UCO Visits Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Central Oklahoma is scheduled for its first MIAA competition of the season Saturday when the 17th-ranked Bronchos visit Northeastern State.

UCO is 5-5 on the season and will compete in the first of eight MIAA duals Saturday, with first serve scheduled for 12 p.m.

UCO is led by its highly touted doubles team of Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock. The duo began the Spring ranked No. 4 in the country before jumping up to No. 1 two weeks ago. The tandem is No. 2 in the country heading to Tahlequah this weekend.

Boyar and Buntrock are 9-1 this season and on a nine-game win streak. The only loss was to Division I North Texas to start the season.

Pete Komada and Nefeli Zafeiri are 7-3 in doubles competition this Spring. The duo plays at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Tizia Brocks and Karyna Yurchenko are 4-4 at the No. 2 position.

Central Oklahoma is looking to improve in Singles play as MIAA action begins Saturday. Four of six regulars in the lineup – Boyar, Brocks, Buntrock, and Yurchenko – have a 5-4 record this Spring. Zafeiri is 4-5 and Komada is 3-7.

Komada is also ranked No. 73 in the country in this week's ITA Singles Top 75 as she has played all 10 matches at the No. 1 position for the Bronchos.

UCO will play its first home MIAA contest next Saturday, hosting Missouri Western at Broncho Courts. Central Oklahoma hits the road again after that and will play at Fort Hays State (3/31) and at Nebraska Kearney (4/2) the following weekend.
