UCO Opens MIAA Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma began the 2023 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday with four competitors taking on four events in the postseason event at Pittsburg State's Robert W. Plaster Center.

Dekayla Gaines raced twice Saturday, once in the 60-meter dash and again in the 200. She finished 19th in the 60 with a time of 8.16 seconds and took 21st in the 200 with a time of 26.46 seconds. The 60-meter dash time was a PR for the sophomore from Edmond.
 
Gracie Sanders ran the 5,000 meters and finished 20th with a time of 18:35.80. Sanders, a freshman from Moore shaved 41 seconds of her previous best mark in the event. She ran a 19:16.97 at Washburn earlier this month and was way out in front of that time Saturday at Pitt State.
 
Tatum Robertson and Dahsauni Lyday both competed in the weight throw. Robertson finished 22nd with a 14.68-meter mark. Lyday fouled and did not record a score for the Bronchos.
