UCO Hosting Thanksgiving Classic At Hamilton Field House

Central Oklahoma Plays Texas A&M International, Oklahoma Christian, With Southeastern Oklahoma State Also Playing

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma returns to the court for a pair of non-conference games this week as the Bronchos host the Thanksgiving Classic at Hamilton Field House.

UCO plays Texas A&M International Tuesday at 4 p.m. and will also take on Oklahoma Christian Wednesday at 1 p.m. Southeastern Oklahoma State rounds out the four-team event and will play OC on Tuesday at 2 p.m. before facing off against TAMUI Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Central Oklahoma is 0-4 this season. This week's games are the last two non-conference games of the season for the Bronchos. UCO hosts Central Missouri (Nov. 30) and Lincoln (Dec. 2) as MIAA play begins next week.

In just four games this season, UCO has two overtime losses by a combined five points. Central lost another game by eight points and is coming off a 19-point setback to Southern Nazarene, which is receiving votes in the national rankings.

The Bronchos are averaging 60.8 points per game through two weeks of play this season. UCO is shooting 36.1 percent overall, 30.3 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 74.4 percent from the free-throw line. Central averages 6.8 made 3-pointers per game and 8.0 made free-throws per game.

UCO also averages 37.5 rebounds, 12.5 assists, 9.5 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game through four games played.

Reagan Fox is averaging a team-high 12.8 points per game for the Bronchos. The sophomore scored 21 points in the season-opener, also her UCO debut. She is 15-for-40 (37.5 percent) overall with a team-high 10 made 3-pointers (10-for-19, 52.6 pct.). Fox is also 11-for-13 (84.6 pct.) from the free-throw line, leading the Bronchos in both of those categories as well. Fox adds 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

Karly Wadsworth is also scoring in double figures. The junior guard is averaging 10.8 points per game through four games this season. She has a team-high 17 made field goals with eight 3-pointers. Her 18 points in 22 minutes led the Bronchos on Saturday at SNU. Wadsworth also averages 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game.

For UCO's offense, 11 other players are averaging a combined 37.2 points per game.

Alena Wilson (5.8), Natalie Stice (5.3), Aliyah Llanusa (4.8), and LaKysia Johnson (4.5) have been regular contributors. Aspen Williston (3.8) and Gracee Miller (3.3) chip in too. Talia Pogi, Alexis Lewis, and Caley Young are all averaging 2.5 points per game. Lexi Foreman (1.5) rounds out the bunch.

Central Oklahoma has a very brief history with Texas A&M International. The Bronchos beat the Dust Devils from Laredo, Texas in 2016-17 (69-41) and 2008-09 (81-62) in the only two meetings between the schools.

International has played in the Lone Star Conference since 2019 and is 5-0 this season. The Dust Devils average 93.0 points per game and five individuals score in double figures. International shoots 47.1 percent overall and 37.4 percent from behind the arc, making 9.9 3-pointers per game through two weeks of play this season.

The Bronchos and the Oklahoma Christian Eagles of Oklahoma City have a much more dated past. UCO trails in the all-time series, 20-18, but does have a seven-game win streak in the rivalry since 2014.

OC is 1-1 this season. The Eagles beat Upper Iowa before falling to East Central this past weekend at the Newman Classic in Wichita, Kansas. OC averages 64.0 points per game with two scoring in double figures this season.

Central Oklahoma will begin a 22-game MIAA schedule after Thanksgiving. The Bronchos open with Central Missouri and Lincoln next weekend before traveling to Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State in December. UCO also hosts Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State before Christmas. Central Oklahoma plays 16 league games in the new year, including seven at Hamilton Field House.
