UCO Sees Standout Performances In Dallas

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Central Oklahoma had a solid day on the course Saturday morning with three personal records for the Bronchos at the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallup.

"Today was an excellent day for the Bronchos," UCO head women's cross country coach Gus Schmader said. "Even though we were short-handed, all five of the ladies ran excellent races. We're extremely proud of their performance and look forward to even faster races in the future."

Genevieve Young, Noel Buckhaults, Melohdee Marroquin, Kylee Smith, and Sydney Large all ran their best performances as Central Oklahoma finished 24th out of 33 schools.

Young finished 88th, running a time of 19:44.2. The junior bested her previous 5k time by 35 seconds. Buckhaults finished 137th with a time of 20:32.5, which was 57 seconds faster than her most recent 5k run earlier this season.

Marroquin posted a 5k time of 20:40.6 to finish 144th. She also shaved nearly one minute off her time from earlier this season. Marroquin ran a 21:30 three weeks ago in Joplin.

Smith finished the 5k in 22:21.1. Large finished in 24:38.1, also besting her previous 5k time by more than one minute. Large ran a 25:49 three weeks ago.

Central Oklahoma wrapped up the regular season with Saturday's race. The Bronchos will now begin preparation for the 2023 MIAA Women's Cross Country Championships in Columbia, Missouri Oct. 20.
