Bronchos Fall In ITA Cup Quarterfinals

ROME, Ga. – Central Oklahoma's Blythe Buntrock and Pete Komada saw their run at nationals end Friday night in a tight, two-set loss to Lynn University's duo.

The match was delayed due to weather and ultimately moved indoors. The match itself would be drawn out too.

Buntrock and Komada tied the first set 6-6 before falling in a tiebreaker. The second set would be extended too, with the Bronchos again coming up just short. In the end, Buntrock and Komada lost 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 to Lynn's Deniza Marcinkevica and Greta Schieroni in the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup.

It was the fourth consecutive year for Central Oklahoma to have a doubles team in the ITA Cup, and the second year in a row for Buntrock, a senior from Las Vegas, Nevada. Buntrock and Komada, now 8-2 on the season, will now find themselves ranked entering the spring season.

UCO will take time off before then, returning in February for its team championship season.
