Baldwin Paces Bronchos At NSU Tourney

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Sept. 19) – Bennett Baldwin paced Central Oklahoma in first-day play at the 24th Annual NSU Golf Classic Monday at the Muskogee Golf Club.

Baldwin had rounds of 72-71 on the 6,726-yard, par-71 course as the Bronchos shot 300-291 for a 591 total, leaving them 14th in the 18-team tournament. Henderson State leads at 557, followed by Washburn (562) and Missouri Western (566) heading into Tuesday's final round.

"We struggled today and had too many big scores," head coach Derrick Thompson said. "Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for us and we can make a move up the leaderboard."

UCO also got rounds of 74-72 from Ross Taylor, while Caleb Kimmel shot 77-73, Carson Blaser 77-75 and Evan Griffith 79-78.

Baldwin had three bogeys and two birdies in his one-over morning round. The sophomore made four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in the afternoon, birdieing his last two holes to get to even par.
