Bronchos Head To NSU Classic

The Central Oklahoma men's golf team resumes the fall season Monday and Tuesday when the Bronchos travel to Muskogee, Okla. to participate in the 24th Annual NSU Golf Classic.

First-round play in the two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 8 a.m. Monday at the 6,726-yard, par-71 Muskogee Golf Club. Thirty-six holes are on tap on the first day of the 18-team tourney, with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

"We're looking forward to getting back at it," said head coach Derrick Thompson, whose team finished sixth in the season-opening Regional Preview Sept. 6-7. "The guys have been working hard to clean up some of the mistakes we made in the first tournament and we've had two good weeks of practice."

Making up UCO's five-man contingent will be juniors Evan Griffith, Ross Taylor and Caleb Kimmel, sophomore Bennett Baldwin and freshman Carson Blaser.

Taylor and Kimmel tied for 15th in the first tourney of the year, while Bennett came in 19th. Blaser will be making his collegiate debut this week.

It's the second of five fall tournaments for the Bronchos.
