Taryn Kedzior Nominated For NCAA Woman of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS – Taryn Kedzior is a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year, the association announced this week.

The University of Central Oklahoma alumna and former Broncho soccer All-American is among a small percentage of female student-athletes in the country to be nominated for this prestigious award. Nearly 220,000 participated in women's NCAA sports last year and Kedzior is one of 577 nominees.

"We are so proud of Taryn for everything she has done," UCO head soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We know she is going to be even more successful as she moves on in her life. We couldn't have asked for more out of her during her time here."

The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors academic achievement, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions.

In a letter to the NCAA, Kedzior reflected on her time at UCO and how that will shape her future in the medical profession.

"Throughout my athletic career I have accumulated valuable tools that I will use in life and as a physician," Kedzior wrote. "In my opinion, leading a soccer team is similar to leading a healthcare team. Both are oriented around a common purpose that is unique to them. One person's actions, if done in the best interest of everyone involved, can unify a group of people to achieve more together."

Kedzior is a four-time All-MIAA recipient and a 2021 All-American. She led Central Oklahoma's soccer program to three conference championships and three national tournament appearances in four years with the team. She was named MIAA Freshman of the Year in 2018 and MIAA Defender of the Year in 2022, bookending her career with top honors while piling up more than a dozen more awards in between.

Kedzior graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2022, earning a 4.0 grade point average throughout her undergraduate coursework. She is a four-year recipient of the President's Honor Roll, the Mike Ciskowski 4.0 Award, the MIAA Academic Excellence and Scholar Athlete awards, the UCO Athletics Presidential Award (twice), UCO Athletics' Outstanding Female Student-Athlete.

Kedzior was also active on campus during her time at UCO. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and was Philanthropy Vice President and for the organization. She served as Bronchothon Chair and team captain, was a team leader at UCO's Big Event, and she also served as a tutor for the Broncho Education Learning Lab (BELL).
