Central Drops Road Match In Texas

Bronchos Fall 1-0 At Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Central Oklahoma outshot Midwestern State on Sunday afternoon but couldn't find the back of the net and settled for a 1-0 loss in the non-conference match.

UCO now has a 1-3 record despite outshooting opponents in all four games over the first two weeks of the season.

"We're getting our chances, we just aren't making the most of them," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "Those opportunities are going go in our favor soon. We have to keep working to get those chances and just finish better.

"Our defense was really good today," Muhamedagic continued. "We've done a good job of limiting chances for our opponents we just have to do more with the ball on the other end of the field."

Central Oklahoma held Midwestern State to seven total shots and only one shot on goal. But it was that shot that gave the host Mustangs a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Stella Soderbom played all 90 in goal for the second consecutive game.

Central took 12 total shots and put four on target. Kaitlyn Cotton, Jane Lockhart, Addison Guthrie, and Greta Likens each put a shot on goal. Cotton and Likens took a team-high two shots each.

Central Oklahoma returns home for one match next week and wraps up non-conference play with a road game after that. UCO hosts Southern Nazarene on Wednesday night and will play at Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.
