Olivares Opens National Tourney Play With 75

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (May 10) – Central Oklahoma's Susana Olivares shot a three-over-par 75 in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships Tuesday.

The sophomore standout is tied for 23rd in the individual standings with two rounds remaining at the 6,004-yard, par-72 Chattahoochee Golf Club. Olivares tees off at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, going off the No. 10 tee.

"Susana had a couple of loose shots at the end, but overall she played pretty well," head coach Michael Bond said. "It's an extremely tough golf course and you really have to be on your game."

Olivares started the day with three consecutive pars before birdieing the par-5 fourth hole to get to one-under. She followed with two more pars before bogeying Nos. 7 and 9 in making the turn at one-over 37.

Olivares dropped to two-over with a bogey on No. 12, but then eagled the par-5 14th in getting back to even par. A double bogey on No. 16 and bogey on No. 18 led to a back-nine 38 for the opening-round 75.
