Central Oklahoma Visits Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team is scheduled to play a three-game MIAA series at Washburn this weekend beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
 
The Bronchos and the Ichabods will also play Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Central Oklahoma is 20-13 this season and UCO has a 12-8 record in conference play. Washburn is 23-11 overall and 13-7 in the league.
 
UCO has won four out of the last five and has scored 31 combined runs in its last two games. The Bronchos are averaging 7.8 runs per game on 9.5 hits per game through 33 games played.
 
Central's top three hitters, Landen Wood, Clayton Peterson and Garrett Takamatsu, account for over 70 runs this season.
 
Wood is hitting a team-high .347 in 30 games played. He has 33 hits including four doubles and one home run, and has 19 RBIs to go with his 19 runs scored.
 
Peterson is hitting .331 and has played in and started all 33 games this season. He has a team-high 44 hits, a team-high nine doubles, and also has three homers and a triple. He has adds 38 RBIs too and has scored 27 runs.
 
Takamatsu has also played in and started all 33 games this season. The utility infielder is hitting .325 and has 40 hits and 40 RBIs thanks in good part to his 14 home runs. He also has four doubles. Takamatsu has scored a team-high 35 runs this Spring.
 
A pair of outfielders follow those three in helping out the offense.
 
Kaleb Glass is hitting .257 and has scored 25 runs this season. He has seven doubles, two triples and two home runs and has also stolen a team-high 15 bases. Noah Olson is hitting .248 and has scored 23 runs. He has five doubles and two homers and has driven in 16 runs.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma heads to Topeka looking to lower its 5.48 team earned run average. UCO is conceding 5.8 runs per game on 9.5 hits per game. The Bronchos have 342 strikeouts in 33 games played.
 
Central Oklahoma's pitching staff has been a collective go this season for the Bronchos. Eight different pitchers have started a game for UCO, three have thrown over 30 innings and five more have thrown at least 20 innings.
 
Jacob Bailey has a team-high 39 2/3 innings pitched and has 54 strikeouts with a 6.13 ERA. Tucker Elliott has started a team-high eight games and has a 5.59 ERA in 38 2/3 innings pitched. He also has a team-high 56 strikeouts. Lawson Isaacs, with a 3.75 ERA and a 4-2 record, joins them with 36 innings pitched.
 
Kyler Patterson has 15 appearances this season. All have come out of the bullpen and in seven of them have resulted in him earning a save. He's thrown 27 2/3 innings pitched and has a stout 0.65 ERA with 47 strikeouts, a per-nine inning rate among the best in the country at 15.6. He was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week last week.
 
Washburn welcomes Central Oklahoma to Topeka averaging 8.7 runs per game and the Ichabods average 11.4 hits per game. WU boasts a 5.25 team ERA and allows 6.1 runs per game.
