Central Oklahoma Back In Top Five

TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Central Oklahoma women's tennis team moved back up to No. 4 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, announced Thursday.

Central Oklahoma is 15-1 this season as the Bronchos head into the final weekend of play for the regular season.
 
UCO has two games left on the 2022 schedule and both are MIAA road contests. Central Oklahoma is scheduled to play at No. 42 Northwest Missouri on Saturday and will close out the season Sunday at No. 50 Washburn.
 
The Bronchos are 6-0 in league play, as is Washburn, setting the stage for a potential showdown Sunday in Topeka, Kansas to determine the 2022 MIAA regular season champion.
 
UCO plays at Northwest first and Washburn hosts Northeastern State before Sunday's finale.
 
Central Oklahoma also has several individuals nationally ranked this week.
 
Mae Canete remained No. 3 in the ITA's Singles Top 75. Christine Canete is No. 9 and Adel-Byanu Abidullina is No. 27.
 
Mae and Canete together also make up the No. 1 doubles team in the country again this week and Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock are ranked 49th in this week's ITA Doubles Top 50.
 
Mae has a 13-2 record this Spring, leading the Bronchos to the front door of another conference championship. Christine is 11-1 this Spring. The two together in doubles have an 11-2 record.
 
Abidullina is 13-0 in singles competition this Spring. The two-time MIAA Player of the Year and three-time All-American looks to wrap up a perfect season this weekend.
 
Boyar and Buntrock are 7-2 together in doubles play and have won four straight.
