UCO Scheduled For Another Two-Meet Weekend

Central Oklahoma's track & field team is splitting up another weekend between two meets.

The Bronchos are sending four to Emporia, Kansas for Emporia State's Midwest Classic and UCO is sending 11 to Norman, Oklahoma for OU's John Jacobs Invite.

The annual John Jacobs Invite, hosted at OU's facility that bears the same name, is scheduled to get underway Friday evening.

The hammer throw, shot put, and long jump will all begin at 5 p.m. and UCO has student-athletes entered in each event.

Eve Brennan, Dahsauni Lyday and Tatum Robertson are all scheduled to throw in the hammer and the shot put. Jordan Chancellor is scheduled to compete in the long jump too.

The remainder of the meet gets underway Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Kayla South, who is scheduled to compete in the hammer throw with the other three on Friday evening, will open up Saturday's festivities in the javelin. She will also compete in the discus Saturday afternoon.

UCO also has runners in the 100-, 200-, 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter races on Saturday, as well as one group in the 4x100 relay.

The Midwest Classic at Emporia State, which is also the site of this season's MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, will get underway Sunday. The event was pushed back one day due to weather.

Luz Lugo-Ponce is scheduled to compete in the pole vault there. She'll be joined by a trio of distance runners. Seniors Arizona Hummingbird and Harlie Hanson and freshman Shiloh Hutchinson are all scheduled to make the trip up Interstate-35.

Hanson will run the 5,000 meters. She owns the school record in that event with an 18:07 mark set at Oklahoma Baptist last month.

Hummingbird is scheduled to run in both the 1,500-meter race and the 800. Hummingbird's 4:41 in the 1,500 is just three seconds off the school record.

Hutchinson is scheduled to run alongside Hummingbird in the 1,500 and with Hanson in the 5,000-meter race.
