OKLAHOMA CITY (March 7) – A trio of top-10 individuals has Central Oklahoma in the hunt after first-day play at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational Monday.
Oklahoma Christian leads the 15-team field with a 289 total at the 5,912-yard, par-71 Lincoln Park East Course, while the Bronchos and Northeastern State are tied for second at 297. Final-round play begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Susana Olivares shot a one-over-par 72 and is tied for sixth in the medalist standings, while Kinsley Hall and Emma Shelley are tied for eighth after both opened with 73s. UCO also got a 79 from Mika Ramos and an 84 from Madison O'Dell.
Olivares got off to a rough start, double bogeying the par-3 second and bogeying the par-4 fifth to drop to three-over before rallying with a birdie on the par-5 seventh.
The sophomore standout then reeling off seven straight pars before getting back to even-par with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16. Olivares bogeyed the par-3 17th and finished with a par to cap off the one-over round.
Hall birdied the par-5 fourth and par-4 eighth holes in making the turn at two-under 34, but ran into trouble on the back nine. The senior had a double bogey and three bogeys in shooting a closing 39 for her 73.
Shelley started slowly and was three-over after five holes before rallying. The sophomore offset a back-nine double bogey with three birdies in coming in with her 73.
