The Central Oklahoma men's golf team resumes the spring schedule Monday and Tuesday with the Broncho Invitational at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
First-round play in the 36-hole tournament will begin at 12 p.m. Monday, with the final 18 holes set to start at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The tournament was originally scheduled for Feb. 28-March 1, but was moved by a week by weather.
Joining UCO in the 12-team field will be Southern Nazarene, Southern Arkansas, Southeastern Oklahoma, Newman, Oklahoma City, Southwestern Christian, Oklahoma Christian, Bethany, Western Texas, Ranger and Hutchinson.
It's the second tournament of the spring for the Bronchos, who came in fourth at the Houston Classic two weeks ago.
"The weather has definitely impacted our practice time the last couple of weeks, but our guys are looking forward to getting back to competition," first-year head coach Derrick Thompson said. "Gaillardia is a great golf course and we're anticipating a good tournament."
Making up UCO's five-man contingent will be juniors Evan Griffith and Kyle Hickey, sophomore Caleb Kimmel and freshmen Bennett Baldwin and Liam Coughlin. Sophomores Ross Taylor and Riley Harris and rookie Cullen Cummings will compete as individuals.
Griffith is coming off an outstanding performance at the Houston Classic, tying for medalist honors with a five-under-par 213 total before losing in a playoff. He has a stellar 72.6 scoring average and has been in the top-25 in five of Central's six tournaments this season.
Kimmel has a 73.6 average with three top-25 finishes, while Baldwin has a 74.9 average and is coming off a best-ever 14th-place finish at Houston. Hickey finished first and second in the last two tournaments of the fall and has a 75.0 average, with Coughlin at 75.1.
