Central Opens Outdoor Season With Nine Top-Five Performances

SHAWNEE, Okla. – A pair of second-place finishes and nine top-five performances highlighted Central Oklahoma's two-day trek through the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational this weekend.

Kayla South recorded a 33.43-meter throw in the javelin and Dahsauni Lyday logged a 13.11-meter throw in the shot put. Both finished runners-up in their respective events.
 
Saturday marked the best finish (second) for Lyday in any Outdoor event. It was the best throw and finish for South in the javelin.
 
Kaleigh Dyas added a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.24 seconds) and she also finished fourth in the 200 (25.61).
 
A pair of distance runners joined Dyas with fourth-place finishes. Arizona Hummingbird finished fourth in the 1500 on Friday night with a time of 5:00.01. Harlie Hanson finished also finished fourth in the 5,000 meters on Friday night with a time of 18:04.87.
 
Ansley Scott had a pair of fifth-place showings. She ran the 200 in 25.62 seconds to finish behind Dyas by an whole 0.01 seconds. Scott also finished fifth in the 400 at 58.88 seconds.
 
South added a second top-five performance to her javelin throw when she finished fifth in the hammer throw with a 39.52-meter chuck.
 
Hanson returned Saturday for more distance racing and finished sixth in the 1,500 with a time of 5:02.26, a new career best.
 
The Bronchos will continue outdoor season next weekend in San Angelo, Texas at Angelo State's David Noble Relays.
