Central Ready For Drury Tourney

Central Oklahoma will send the women's golf team to Bolivar, Mo. Monday and Tuesday for the Midwestern Intercollegiate Invitational.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament will be held at the par-72 Silo Ridge Country Club, with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start set each day.

Joining the Bronchos and host Drury in the 16-team event will be Rockhurst, Lincoln, Upper Iowa, Lindenwood, Winona State, Coffeyville, Central Missouri, Southern Nazarene, Minot State, Augustana, Concordia-St. Paul, William Jewell, Northwest Missouri and Quincy.

Senior Kinsley Hall, junior Madison O'Dell and sophomores Susana Olivares, Mika Ramos and Emma Shelley will make up Central's lineup for the eighth tournament of the year. The Bronchos have had five top-four finishes in 2021-22.

It's also the next-to-last tune-up for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships, of which UCO is the defending champion. The Bronchos go to Wichita, Kan. April 4-5 for the Newman Classic before the league tournament on April 18-20.

"We've played really well at times this year, but didn't have a good outing last week," veteran coach Michael Bond said. "It's going close to the end of the season and our girls are focused on finishing strong."

Olivares continues to pace the team with a stellar 73.07 scoring average. She's shot par or better five times this year and has finished in the top-12 in six of UCO's seven tournaments.

Shelley carries a 75.0 average and has been in the top-20 in five of the six events she's competed in. Ramos carries a 78.47 average with three top-25s, while Hall is at 78.64 and O'Dell 79.0.
