Lynch, Minter Claim MIAA Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 14) – Central Oklahoma swept Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association softball player of the week honors Monday, it was announced the league office.

Kylee Lynch was named Pitcher of the Week and Jacee Minter Hitter of the Week in the awards presented by Mammoth Turf, the second time this season the two have been recognized.

Lynch dominated in the circle as the No. 10-ranked Bronchos opened defense of their MIAA title with back-to-back sweeps of Emporia State and Washburn.

The sophomore left-hander went 2-0 with one save and an 0.82 earned run average, with opponents hitting just .132. Lynch allowed three hits in an 8-0 win over Emporia State and two in a 15-1 win over Washburn while also picked up a save against Washburn with one no-hit inning.

Minter hit .455 with two doubles, two home runs and eight runs batted in over the weekend, finishing with a 1.182 slugging percentage. The sophomore outfielder also drew three walks in amassing a .571 on-base percentage and hit three-run homers in both of UCO's wins over Emporia State.

UCO is back in action Tuesday, hosting Southeastern Oklahoma for a 1 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
