UCO To Celebrate DII Day With Baseball Against Southwestern

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma will celebrate DII Day Tuesday with a home baseball game against Southwestern Oklahoma State. First pitch is scheduled for 2:22 p.m.

The celebration, taking place around the country on 2/22/22, is a celebration of NCAA Division II schools. DII Day is an opportunity for all individuals associated with Division II to celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on their campus and community, according to the NCAA's website. Every DII school and conference is encouraged to share the benefits of being a part of Division II and showcase student-athlete success stories on their athletics website and social media channels.

Central Oklahoma is hosting Southwestern Oklahoma State for a 3 p.m. baseball game. The Bronchos are 5-3 this season and are coming off an off weekend. UCO run-ruled East Central last Tuesday and did the same to Southern Nazarene on Wednesday before taking the weekend off.

Southwestern Oklahoma State is 6-5 this season. The Bulldogs from Weatherford, Oklahoma took 2 of 3 from Arkansas-Monticello this past weekend.

Central and SWOSU played earlier this month in the final game of the season-opening Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field. The Bronchos won 6-4 in that game.

The two schools have played against each other for more than 100 years. Since both institutions joined NCAA Division II in the 1990s, Central Oklahoma owns a 50-19 advantage in series.

Central Oklahoma is scheduled to open MIAA play following Tuesday's affair with Southwestern Oklahoma State. UCO is scheduled to play a three-game series at Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Missouri beginning on Friday.
